Luxury Christmas Gift Wrapping Ideas on a Budget
On top of the Christmas presents you’ve bought for your friends and family, do you find the gift wrap, along with labels, bows, ribbon etc. can soon add up to quite a lot of money? So much so that you could have probably bought somebody another gift! This year I’ve tried to buy my gift-wrap on a smaller budget, but I still want my gifts to look luxe!
Every year, I like to try and devise a colour scheme for my gift-wrap and stick with it. This year I chose copper gift-wrap, with black, white or navy accessories. I felt this theme had a Ted-Baker-esque vibe, plus copper/ rose gold is still a very popular shade/colour right now.
What first inspired me to go with this colour scheme was some beautiful paper I’d found on John Lewis’ website which was navy, patterned with sparkly copper stars. This sold out very quick in November though and they never seemed to re-stock it, which was disappointing! John Lewis also had a 5m roll of very nice copper wrapping paper but it was £5 a roll.
I wanted to try and stick with the navy and copper theme so I did splurge on one item from John Lewis which was this £4 10m navy and gold lurex string.
I decided to shop around for copper gift-wrap though and managed to find VERY similar paper in Primark for £1.50 a 5m roll! I picked up three rolls of it so I am hoping this will be plenty!
I struggled to find navy bows anywhere, apart from Paperchase, which sold singular navy ones, but had no packs. So instead I managed to find black and white bows and ribbon from the Card Factory for 99p a pack. They also came with gold and copper bows too but I'm sure some of my family might find use for these, or I'll keep them for next year.
I also found this glittery navy and copper gift box for £3.49 from the Card Factory, which is going to be perfect for somebody’s present! I may switch the ribbon bow for one of the copper gift bows though.
This 99p navy tissue paper will also go nice inside it and additionally comes with some festive confetti.
I still like to add a bit of my personality to my gift-wrap, and thought these cute gingerbread men labels from Tesco would look great! You get six in a pack for 70p.
Here’s a photo of the finished look that I don’t think looks too shabby!
This year I decided not to really bother with gift bags, I find this is where the cost crazily mounts up. Sure, sometimes they’re re-used but they also tend to be stored away in a cupboard or chucked out.
I did however buy giant tote bags for my sister and boyfriend, which are more likely to be re-used, whether for next year’s Christmas shopping or to transport their gifts like a santa-sack.
How do you like to wrap your Christmas gifts? Do you have a theme or do you prefer using what’s left over from previous years? Let me know in the comments!
