Disneyland Paris September 2017 Day Two
Hi all! I hope you’ve had a lovely weekend. As promised, here is day two of my Disneyland Paris adventure! I was originally going to wear a Chip t-shirt with a polka dot skirt, but just before I left London, Cath Kidston had released their Peter Pan collection. I couldn't resist their polka dot Tinkerbell skirt!
The first thing we did on our second morning was queue up to meet Chip ‘n’ Dale! They looked super cute in their 25th anniversary outfits and very sweet when David and I met them.
When booking our holiday, we were given free Half Board, which meant we had to queue for breakfast in Discoveryland’s CafĂ© Hyperion. We had to wait quite a long time to be served (around 20 minutes) and you could choose between a croissant or pain au chocolat with bread and jam or an omelette burger with a croissant or pain au chocolat. You were also given tea or coffee and a bottle of orange juice or water. Personally I quite enjoyed the food but David wasn’t too fond of the omelette burger as it had mayonnaise in it. It was really useful having the extra bottle of drink too as this kept me hydrated through till lunchtime.
After breakfast we decided to go on the Buzzlightyear ride, which we didn’t have to queue for at all! It's a ride where you have a space zapper and you get points for hitting targets throughout the ride. David beat me by a couple of thousand!
Space Mountain went under renovation this year to become Star Wars themed Hyper Space mountain and I have to say this ride was incredible! I loved how the ride shot us up like a cannon and then made you feel like you were in a fight with the tie fighters, all the twists and turns and going upside down was so exciting! In my opinion, the Disneyland Paris version has always been the best one, and still is after the upgrades!
Nautilus is a bit hidden away from the other attractions in Discoveryland. I knew there was a submarine in the water by Space Mountain but I didn’t know you could go in it! So when we were coming out of the exit of Space Mountain we ventured down into the depths of the ‘20,000 Leagues Under the Sea’-inspired submarine
Plaza Gardens buffet restaurant was incredible. There were so many options, including for vegetarians. My particular favourite part was the desserts, and I may have gone a little overboard…
Autopia lets you steer and accelerate around a track in a little vintage style car, which meant I could prove to David how great (or not-so-great) of a driver I am! Other than bumping into every corner at high speed, I don’t think I did too badly! David’s look of fear may suggest otherwise though…
We picked up a fast-pass ticket for Star Tours, which meant we were able to catch the Starlit Princess Waltz show and Mickey's 25th Anniversary celebration show. It was so magical to see them all dancing on stage.
Star Tours has had a bit of an upgrade since I last visited Disneyland Paris. The 3D simulator ride now has multiple different stories to discover, whereas before it was only the original storyline. We got The Force Awakens version, which was great fun.
After we finished Discoveryland, we decided to wander over to Adventureland and we first walked through Passage d’Aladdin.
Our first ride there was Indiana Jones et le Temple de Perile. This rollercoaster was over pretty quick but it has a lot of quick turns and goes upside down and is great fun. This ride was also only a five-minute wait.
The Pirates of the Caribbean ride was probably my favourite ride from the whole trip. This has also been recently renovated to include Jack Sparrow. The special effects and animatronics were incredible on this ride and the music was fantastic too.
I adore Disneyland Paris’ Adventure Isle and the walkthroughs in the caverns of Skull Rock. The theming was incredible and really made you feel like you were exploring through a pirate’s secret lair!
We weren’t feeling very hungry when we left the park that evening, so we decided on grabbing a sub from the Earl of Sandwich, which is in the Disney Village. I had a tuna melt that was delicious!
In my next blog post on Thursday evening, I’ll be writing about our adventure to the Disney Studios park, where David and I met one of our favourite characters and ate some amazing food!
Au revoir!
